The Tumor Microenvironment Thematic Research Center (TME TRC) is focused on developing therapeutic targets at the intersection of tumor, stromal and immune biology within the TME with the goal of enhancing responsiveness to checkpoint blockade and targeted therapies.

Comprising of scientists across multiple disciplines we are responsible for the biology and translational science necessary to support drug development from target identification through to first in human studies.

Position Summary:

The Associate Scientist will join the Immuno-Oncology Translational Research team at Bristol-Myers Squibb in Redwood City, CA to execute on translational research plans and develop biomarker assays for immune targets in the tumor microenvironment.

The qualified candidate is a highly motivated, interactive, and creative individual that possesses the ability to work across a highly matrixed environment to support progression of therapeutic targets.

This position will specifically support the identification of potential biomarkers, receptor occupancy, target engagement and pharmacodynamic assays for these targets.

The candidate is also expected to effectively collaborate with colleagues in the immunology, oncology, chemistry, protein engineering, and biomarker groups.

The successful candidate will additionally demonstrate clear verbal and written communication skills.

Qualifications:

A B.S.

with a minimum of 2 years of academic/industrial experience, or an M.S.

with strong scientific knowledge and research experience in immuno-oncology, immunology, or oncology is required.

Demonstrated independence in experimental design, execution, data analysis and troubleshooting is required.

Experience with biomarker and assay development is preferred.

Skills and experience:

Experience in multiple technologies, including flow cytometry, immune functional assays, next generation sequencing, IHC, and bioinformatics is required.

Experience with primary human immune cells of human origin and the ability to utilize them is required.

Experience with assay development.

Experience in bioinformatics and/or computational biology.

Proficiency in utilizing software such as Graph Pad, Microsoft office etc.

for data analysis and figure generation is required.

Attention to detail with excellent organizational and record keeping skills is required.

Excellent interpersonal skills are required.

Strong analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities.

This position is located in Redwood City, CA and lab-based.

There will be less than 10% travel.
