ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs psychiatric casework, counseling and treatment services with patients or clients and their families.
  • Evaluates problems presented and in the making of treatment and coordinate plans.
  • May coordinate, participate or conduct group therapy sessions.
  • Maintain a patient charts in accordance to State, County and quality assurance guidelines.
  • Establishes working relationships with other staff, public and private agencies emphasizing continuity of patient care.
  • May perform outreach, education and mental health promotion.
  • Interprets and explains social and emotional factors pertaining to illness to clients’ relatives and community groups.
  • Will participate in on-call duty on a rotating basis.
  • Performs related work as required.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree plus registered with the California Board of Behavioral Science (BBS) as MFTI or ASW and have obtained an effective Waiver of Licensure from the Santa Clara Dept of Mental Health.
  • Knowledge of: Principles of psychiatric social work counseling and other related techniques; community resources in designated areas; required knowledge of DSM IV.
  • Ability to: Apply casework skill effectively, establish and maintain effective working relationships; secure and record accurate and pertinent social personal data.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours as needed.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish, preferred.
